New York State can give eligible veterans up to $2,000 per year to cover urgent housing costs they can't afford, things like past-due rent, emergency repairs after a fire or disaster, replacing a broken furnace, or paying a security deposit to avoid homelessness. Income/assets must be below the federal Veterans Pension net worth limit.

Restrictions

Apply at veterans.ny.gov/veterans-emergency-housing-program or email housing@veterans.ny.gov. Net worth limit currently set at $155,356 (federal Veterans Pension threshold). Program launched as pilot in 2024; confirmed active as of 2025. A Veterans Benefits Advisor contacts you after application.
