Alabama now allows 100% disabled veterans to receive a tentative property tax exemption certificate at the start of their mortgage application process. This makes it easier to qualify for a home loan, because the lender can factor the exemption into the underwriting before the home closes.
Restrictions
Signed into law April 2026. Contact your county tax assessor's office to request the tentative exemption certificate before beginning your mortgage application.
