Details

Ohio lets any private employer voluntarily adopt a hiring preference policy for veterans, service members, and their spouses, and register that policy publicly. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services maintains a public registry of these employers, so veterans can target companies that have formally committed to preferring veteran applicants.

Restrictions

Employers notify ODJFS to be listed. The registry is public at jfs.ohio.gov. Having the preference on record means using it in hiring/promotion/retention decisions is explicitly not a violation of Ohio equal employment opportunity law.
