Pennsylvania law requires that all state civil service jobs give hiring preference to qualifying veterans. Eligible veterans get 10 extra points added to their civil service exam score, plus mandatory appointment preference over non-veterans when scores are comparable. This preference extends to surviving spouses of deceased veterans and spouses of veterans with a permanent total disability rating.

Restrictions
