Veterans Homes of California: Spouse and Domestic Partner Joint Admission
A veteran and their nonveteran spouse or domestic partner can apply for joint admission to a CalVet Veterans Home.
Details
A veteran and their nonveteran spouse or domestic partner can apply for joint admission to a CalVet Veterans Home. This is the only way a nonveteran can access the subsidized long-term care at a state veterans home. The pair must have been married or registered domestic partners for at least one year and must have lived together prior to applying.
Restrictions
Joint applications must be submitted before the veteran is admitted, they cannot be filed after admission. Surviving spouses of Medal of Honor recipients and former prisoners of war may apply independently.
