Veterans' Hiring Preference for Kansas State Government Jobs
Veterans' Hiring Preference for Kansas State Government Jobs
Kansas state law gives veterans a preference when applying for state government jobs in classified positions.
Details
Kansas state law gives veterans a preference when applying for state government jobs in classified positions. Eligible veterans are guaranteed an interview and receive preference at every stage of the hiring process. Preference also applies to promotions and protects veterans from being laid off first in workforce reductions. Spouses of veterans with 100% service-connected disabilities, spouses of veterans killed in service, and spouses of prisoners of war also qualify.
Restrictions
Governed by K.S.A. 73-201. Contact veterans' employment coordinator at (785) 296-4714. Application requires DD-214 or equivalent discharge papers.
