Vermont adds 5 points to exam scores for veterans applying for state jobs and 10 points for service-connected disabled veterans, their surviving spouses, and spouses of totally disabled veterans. Veterans can also apply for positions normally open only to current state employees or marked "State Promotional Only."

Restrictions

General eligibility requires at least 90 days of active duty and honorable discharge. Statute: 20 V.S.A. § 1543 and 3 V.S.A. § 310(f).
