Details
A pending 2026 bill (SB 26-067) would require all Colorado public colleges and universities to waive all tuition and fees for dependents of qualifying veterans, those killed in action, died in service, MIA, POW, or rated individually unemployable due to service. Dependents must meet academic standing requirements. As of May 2026 this is under consideration in the legislature.
Restrictions
Existing law already provides a tuition waiver for children of Colorado National Guard members who died or were permanently disabled on active state duty who don't qualify for federal benefits (per military.com Colorado state benefits summary). SB 26-067 would significantly expand this to include all qualifying federal veteran dependents.
