Connecticut adds extra points to passing scores on competitive state hiring exams for veterans. Wartime veterans who are not VA-disability eligible get 5 extra points. Disabled wartime veterans who are eligible for or receiving VA compensation, spouses of disabled veterans unable to work, and surviving spouses of preference-eligible veterans get 10 extra points.
Restrictions
Statute CGS §5-224. Preference only applies to competitive exams; effectiveness is limited for positions where written exams have been replaced by resume-based screening.
