SMART Heroes — Free Skilled-Trades (Construction) Training
SMART Heroes is a free 7-week skilled-trades training program for transitioning service members (last 180 days active) and veterans, certified through the SMART union. Covers HVAC sheet metal, with on-base cohorts at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (WA) and Air Force Academy Colorado Springs. Graduates connect directly to union apprenticeships paying $50K+ year-one with full healthcare + pension.

Apply at smartheroes.org. Full housing + meals included during the 7-week program. SkillBridge-approved at JBLM cohort. Union apprenticeship placement nearly 100% — sheet metal is a high-demand trade with $30-$45/hr journeyman rates. Cross-link [[education-training]] CDL Training via GI Bill as the other strong fast-trade alternative.
