Honorably discharged veterans get 5 extra points added to their exam scores when applying for Alabama state government jobs. Veterans with a service-connected disability who are receiving compensation or pension get 10 extra points. Spouses and widows of certain disabled or deceased veterans can also claim the 10-point preference.
Restrictions
Ala. Code § 36-26-15(b). Veterans also receive tie-breaking preference on employment registers over non-veterans with identical scores.
