Current and former members of the Oregon National Guard are entitled to a 5-percentage-point preference on civil service hiring exams and promotion processes at all Oregon public employers, effective January 1, 2026 under Senate Bill 808. The preference applies at every stage of the hiring process.
Restrictions
Separate from, but administered alongside, the existing veteran/disabled veteran preference. Applies to new hires, promotions, job rotations, developmental assignments, and temporary hires.
