Ohio operates two state-run long-term care campuses exclusively for wartime veterans: a 427-bed nursing home and 206-bed independent living facility in Sandusky, and a 168-bed nursing home in Georgetown. Both offer standard care and memory care (Alzheimer's/dementia). Ohio residents who are wartime veterans and are unable to earn a living due to disability are eligible.
Restrictions
Eligibility requires: Ohio resident for at least one year, honorable discharge, and active-duty service during a period of war or conflict (or Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal/Vietnam Service Medal recipient). Contact Sandusky nursing home: 567-998-3680; Georgetown: 937-483-5824.
