Dependents (children, stepchildren, spouses, and surviving spouses) of North Dakota veterans who were killed in action, declared totally disabled, or declared missing in action can attend any North Dakota state college or university completely free, no tuition and no fees, up through a bachelor's degree or certificate. There is no time limit or age cap on the benefit.
Restrictions
Veteran must have been a North Dakota resident at time of service entry or must have lived in ND for 5 years prior to the waiver request. Only ND public institutions participate. Does not cover aviation flight charges. No time limit once eligible. Surviving spouses in receipt of VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) are explicitly eligible.
