Details

State employees and teachers participating in the NC Local Government Employees Retirement System (LGERS) who left to serve in the Armed Forces and returned to NC government employment may receive free military service credit toward their pension. Those who don't qualify for free credit may purchase additional service credit.

Restrictions

Free credit requires: return to LGERS employment, honorable discharge, request filed within 2 years of earliest discharge date or after 10 years of additional service.
