Hero's Bridge runs the Battle Buddy Program — pairs trained volunteers with isolated older veterans (typically 65+) for regular check-in visits, phone calls, transportation to medical appointments, and companionship. Free for the veteran. Particularly active for WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War veterans and aging GWOT-era retirees.

Apply at herosbridge.org. Currently strongest coverage in Virginia + DC + Mid-Atlantic region; expanding to other states. Volunteer-driven so geography determines availability. Pair with VA's Caregiver Support Program for veterans needing more intensive care. Hero's Bridge also runs an emerging "Village" community for aging veterans — long-term play not yet broadly available but worth tracking.
