West Virginia employers who hire economically disadvantaged veterans receive a tax credit of 30% of the first $5,000 in wages paid to that employee.

West Virginia employers who hire economically disadvantaged veterans receive a tax credit of 30% of the first $5,000 in wages paid to that employee. Employers who hire disabled veterans receive a credit equal to the veteran's disability percentage multiplied by the first $5,000 in wages. Employers hiring unemployed National Guard or Reserve members receive a 25% credit on the first $5,000 in wages.
Restrictions
Authorized under WV State Code §21A-2C. The employer must hire the veteran for at least one year of continuous employment to receive the full credit. Partial credits available for shorter tenures under qualifying circumstances. Contact WorkForce WV for more information.
