Louisiana operates five state-funded veterans homes that provide long-term skilled nursing, Alzheimer's care, rehabilitation, and related services to qualifying veterans and some family members. Veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 70% or higher, or admitted for a diagnosis related to their service connection, may live there free of charge. Other veterans pay a subsidized monthly rate.
Restrictions
Five locations: Jackson (War Veterans Home), Monroe (Northeast), Bossier City (Northwest), Reserve (Southeast), Jennings (Southwest). Veterans with 70%+ service-connected rating may qualify for no-cost care. Monthly rate for others is approximately $2,424 (set by U.S. VA annually).
