When applying for Louisiana state government jobs, honorably discharged veterans receive bonus points added to their civil service exam scores: 5 points for eligible veterans, and 10 points for veterans with a service-connected disability. This preference increases their ranking on hiring lists.
Restrictions
Requires submission of DD-214 for the 5-point preference; service-connected disability documentation from the VA is additionally required for the 10-point preference. Apply through the Louisiana Civil Service hiring process. See also jobs.la.gov for the state job portal.
