Details

Idaho law gives veterans a leg up when applying for state government jobs. Honorably discharged veterans receive 5 extra points added to their exam or application score. Veterans with a 10% or greater service-connected disability, or Purple Heart recipients, receive 10 points. Surviving spouses of eligible veterans who remain unmarried also qualify.

Restrictions

Points apply to initial appointment only, not promotions or transfers. Veterans with 30%+ disability and 10 points are also guaranteed an interview if they rank in the top 25 qualified applicants. Spouses of disabled veterans unable to work due to their disability may also claim preference.
