Our Military Kids' Hidden Helper Hero Award recognizes the children (ages 5-18) who provide critical caregiving to a combat-injured, ill, or recovering parent. Winners receive media recognition + a financial award + connection to peer caregivers. Six awards announced annually.
Restrictions
Nominate at ourmilitarykids.org/courageous-kids. Designed to surface the "hidden helper" kids that the VA / DoD child-caregiver research has documented, children who take on adult care responsibilities for an injured parent. The recognition itself is the bigger benefit, it routes the family into Our Military Kids' broader grant + peer-support network. Pairs with [[healthcare-wellness]] VA Caregive
