The National Military Family Association runs Operation Purple Camps — free, week-long, fully-funded summer camps for children of military service members, with priority for kids whose parents are deployed, recovering from injury, or processing a recent loss. Camps run in 10+ states across the U.S. during summer break. Activities + lodging + meals all covered — family pays nothing.

Restrictions

Apply early each spring — most camps fill within 2-4 weeks of opening (typically March-April for July-August sessions). Apply at militaryfamily.org/programs/operation-purple. NMFA also runs Operation Purple Healing Adventures (combat-wounded family weekends) and Operation Purple Family Retreats. Strong summer-kids play, especially for families managing a deployment that lines up with school break.
