Details

Alaska state law gives veterans a preference when applying for state government jobs. Veterans with a service-connected disability get 10 points and must be offered an interview for all open competitive vacancies if they meet minimum qualifications. Non-disabled veterans get 5 points and receive consideration for competitive vacancies.

Restrictions

Applies to competitive vacancies open to "All Alaska Residents." Does not apply to internal promotions, transfers, or reassignments. 10-point veterans are automatically identified in the Workplace Alaska system.
