Details

West Virginia law (§61-7-4) exempts honorably discharged veterans from paying the standard $50 fee for a state concealed weapon license. The exemption is codified as an exception within the fee statute. The West Virginia Attorney General confirmed the exemption and directed all county sheriffs to honor it. A similar exemption applies for honorably retired law enforcement officers.

Restrictions

Standard resident license fee is $50. The veteran must still meet all other eligibility requirements and complete the application. Apply at the sheriff's office in your county of residence. The WV AG also reduced non-veteran fees from $75 to $25 under the same legislation.
