Rhode Island offers special license plates for veterans and military members including: Disabled Veteran (free plates and registration for 100% service-connected disabled veterans), Prisoner of War, Purple Heart recipient, Veteran, National Guard member, and Gold Star Parent. The Disabled Veteran plate has no charge for the plates or registration.
Restrictions
Statute: RIGL 31-6-8. Disabled Veteran plates are limited to one set per eligible veteran, renewed every two years in December. Upon death, plates may transfer to spouse (unless remarried). Other veteran plate types have standard registration fees.
