Details

The unremarried surviving spouse of a veteran who was permanently and totally disabled from a service-connected disability, or who died from a service-connected cause, can exempt up to $150,000 of their home's assessed value from property taxes. The exemption applies as long as the surviving spouse continues to own and occupy the dwelling.

Restrictions

Surviving spouse must be unremarried and continue occupying the home. Exemption ends if property is sold, use changes, or surviving spouse remarries or vacates. Apply at county courthouse by November 1.
