Connecticut operates the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, where eligible veterans, their spouses, and eligible minor children can be buried at no charge. The cemetery covers the plot, opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, and a government marble headstone installed at no cost. A columbarium is available for cremated remains.

Restrictions

Veteran must have honorable discharge (or general under honorable conditions) and CT residency at death or at time of enlistment. National Guard members with 20+ qualifying years also eligible. No charges for plot, opening/closing, or headstone.
