Louisiana veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 50% or higher get extra property tax relief on top of the standard homestead exemption. The break scales with disability level: 50-69% rating gets $2,500 off assessed value; 70-99% gets $4,500 off; 100% rated veterans pay zero ad valorem property tax on their primary home. Surviving spouses may retain the exemption.

Restrictions

Administered by local parish assessors. Veterans rated 100% pay no property tax on primary residence. Surviving spouse retains exemption per Louisiana constitutional language (La. R.S. 47).
