Surviving spouses of certain veterans can receive an annual grant from Washington state to help pay property taxes. The spouse must be at least 62 years old (or retired due to disability), must not have remarried, and must have combined disposable income at or below the county's threshold.
Restrictions
The grant does not have to be repaid as long as the surviving spouse continues to live in the residence until at least December 15 of the grant year. Veteran must have died from a service-connected disability, been rated 100% disabled for 10 years prior to death, been a POW rated 100% for one year, or died on active duty. Statute: RCW 84.39.
