New Jersey disabled veterans and Purple Heart recipients displaying a special MVC-issued placard may park at municipal parking meters for free for up to 24 hours. The veteran or recipient must be the driver or passenger in the vehicle displaying the placard.
Restrictions
Placard must be displayed in the vehicle. Applicant must own the vehicle. Apply at any MVC agency or by mail with DD-214 and VA disability award letter (for disabled vets) or Purple Heart documentation. Placards must be renewed every 3 years.
