Eligible veterans can be buried at no cost at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Fort Harrison, near Helena. The cemetery plot, opening and closing, headstone, and ongoing care are all free for eligible veterans. Spouses and dependents are also eligible at a reduced fee.
Restrictions
Veterans must have an Other than Dishonorable discharge and sufficient years of service. Montana also accepts Guard and Reserve members who don't meet standard veteran burial eligibility under the Burial Equity for Guards and Reserves Act. Pre-register through the cemetery manager.
