Retired military members do not pay Connecticut income tax on their military retirement pay, as long as the retirement pay is taxed on their federal return (i.e., not already fully federally excluded).

Retired military members do not pay Connecticut income tax on their military retirement pay, as long as the retirement pay is taxed on their federal return (i.e., not already fully federally excluded). Survivor Benefit Plan annuities are also exempt. This is a 100% exclusion, Connecticut follows the federal treatment of military retirement income.
Restrictions
Former spouses receiving military retirement pay under a divorce decree do not qualify. Military disability retirement pay is also not taxed. Statute: CGS §12-701.
