Money received as military retirement pay is not subject to Hawaii state income tax. This includes regular retired pay, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) payments, Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan (RCSBP) payments, and Retired Serviceman's Family Protection Plan (RSFPP) annuities.

Restrictions

TSP distributions are still subject to Hawaii state tax. Disability retirement pay from the VA for service-connected conditions is separately excluded.
