Massachusetts operates two state veterans cemeteries (in Agawam and Winchendon) that offer free burial to any eligible veteran, not just Massachusetts residents. Spouses and dependents can be buried for a nominal fee (up to $300 for full casket, $150 for cremation). Includes perpetual care and a volunteer Honor Guard firing detail.
Restrictions
Open to veterans nationally, not only Massachusetts residents. Eligibility requires honorable discharge (DD-214) or 20+ years National Guard/Reserve service with a military pension. Schedule interments by appointment only, Monday, Friday.
