Colorado Parks and Wildlife offers a free Independence Pass to Colorado resident veterans with a service-connected disability of 50% or greater (or Purple Heart recipients), giving unlimited free entry to all state parks for 12 months. The pass transfers between vehicles; the pass holder must be present. Holders who are 64 or older also receive a $3/night camping discount Sunday through Thursday. You only apply once, renewal is annual by phone, online, or at any CPW office.

Restrictions

Purple Heart recipients qualify with a Purple Heart Certificate or DD214 showing the award. Apply in person at CPW Headquarters (6060 Broadway, Denver) or by emailing completed application to disability.apps@state.co.us. Authorized under CRS §33-12-106.
