Eligible veterans and their qualified dependents can be buried in one of Hawaii's state veterans cemeteries on Oahu, Hawaii Island, Kauai, Maui, Molokai, and Lanai at no charge for the gravesite. The family pays for funeral director and transport costs; the VA covers the plot/interment allowance fee for wartime and peacetime veterans.

Restrictions

Burial includes veteran, spouse, and minor children under 21 (or 23 if enrolled in school). Gravesites cannot be reserved in advance. DD-214 or equivalent discharge document required to establish eligibility.
