Veterans with a permanent and total service-connected disability rating from the federal VA are fully exempt from property tax on their primary home in Connecticut. Veterans who don't own a home can apply the exemption to one vehicle instead. This took effect October 1, 2024 and will appear on 2026 tax bills.
Restrictions
Must file with the town assessor. Veteran must be a CT resident. Cannot simultaneously receive other authorized exemptions if receiving this total exemption. Statute: Public Act 24-46.
