Active duty military members serving more than 90 consecutive days can subtract up to $15,000 of their basic pay from Virginia state income taxes. The exemption phases out dollar-for-dollar once pay exceeds $15,000 and disappears entirely at $30,000. Members can be stationed anywhere, inside or outside Virginia.
Restrictions
Must be on extended active duty for more than 90 days. National Guard members on active duty 90+ consecutive days also qualify. Claimed on Virginia Form 760.
