Alaska disabled veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 50% or higher may be exempt from property taxes on the first $150,000 of their primary home's assessed value. This is a mandatory exemption that all Alaska municipalities must grant. The exemption can transfer to a surviving spouse who is at least 60 years old.
Restrictions
Applies to primary residence only. Disability must be service-connected and rated at 50% or more. Apply by the municipality's deadline (commonly March 15). Municipalities may grant additional exemption beyond $150K.
