Texas disabled veterans with a VA service-connected disability rating of 50 percent or more (or 40 percent due to lower extremity amputation) qualify for Disabled Veteran (DV) specialty license plates. The first set costs $3 per year, and no annual vehicle registration or local fees apply to that one vehicle.
Restrictions
Only one vehicle qualifies for the no-registration-fee benefit. Additional vehicles may display DV plates but standard registration and local fees apply. Apply via Form VTR-615 at the local county tax assessor-collector's office. Vehicles with DV plates are also exempt from parking fees at government-operated meters.
