Alabama veterans with a service-connected disability of 10% or higher pay no state registration tax, privilege license tax, or issuance fees for the official "Disabled Veteran" license plate. The plate is available in distinctive veteran designs and serves as both the registration plate and proof of exemption.
Restrictions
Ala. Code § 32-6-130. Plates are not transferable between vehicles. Veterans rated under 50% are limited to one exempt plate. Obtain at your county license plate office with DD-214 and VA disability rating letter.
