Disabled Veteran Homestead Market Value Exclusion
Disabled Veteran Homestead Market Value Exclusion: Up to $300,000 Off Home Value
Minnesota reduces the taxable value of a disabled veteran's home, which can dramatically cut property taxes.
Details
Minnesota reduces the taxable value of a disabled veteran's home, which can dramatically cut property taxes. Veterans with a 70% or higher service-connected disability rating get $150,000 removed from their home's assessed value before taxes are calculated. Veterans rated 100% totally and permanently disabled get $300,000 removed. If the home is worth less than the exclusion amount, it is fully exempt from property taxes that year.
Restrictions
Surviving spouse of a 100% T&P veteran or a service member killed in the line of duty continues to receive the exclusion until remarriage. Primary caregivers of qualifying veterans may also qualify. Apply through county assessor using form CR-DVHE70 or CR-DVHE100. Statute §273.13.
