North Dakota veterans with a 100% service-connected disability (or qualifying under Public Law 79-663) can get Disabled American Veteran (DAV) specialty license plates with no annual registration fee on up to two vehicles. The same vehicles are also exempt from the state vehicle excise (sales) tax. Vehicles displaying DAV plates can park in any designated handicap parking space in North Dakota without an additional placard.
Restrictions
Applies to up to two vehicles per veteran at a time. Plates not permitted on vehicles with gross weight of 26,000 lbs or more. Un-remarried surviving spouses receiving VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation retain the registration fee exemption for one vehicle.
