The Armed Services YMCA runs an annual Military Spouse Writing Program, free, structured cohort of 6-12 months for military spouses to develop creative writing skills (essays, fiction, memoir, journalism). Cohort includes monthly virtual workshops, peer review, and publishing pathways. Open globally, OCONUS spouses are explicitly welcomed.

Restrictions

Apply via asymca.org. Cohort published anthology each year, that publication credit alone can unlock freelance writing work as the spouse rebuilds career across PCSes. Strong fit for spouses whose career field doesn't survive constant moves and who want to build a portable / remote skill.
