Details
Veterans who already receive the basic wartime property tax exemption and fall below certain income limits can get an additional state exemption on top of their local exemption. The extra exemption doubles the local amount for income-qualified veterans, and towns may vote to triple it for veterans with a 100% disability rating. For 2024 income, the income ceiling is $45,200 (single) or $55,100 (married joint).
Restrictions
Must reapply biennially with the town assessor between February 1 and October 1. Veterans' disability payments do not count as income for this program. Statute: CGS §12-81g.
