Details

Missouri allows active duty servicemembers to deduct their military pay from Missouri state income taxes. Starting in tax year 2016, all active duty military pay is deductible. Starting in tax year 2020, National Guard and Reserve inactive duty pay (drills, annual training) became partially deductible, and as of tax year 2024, 100% of that inactive duty income is also deductible.

Restrictions

Statute: Section 143.174 (active duty) and Section 143.175 (inactive duty), RSMo. Spouses of servicemembers may also elect the same state of residence as the servicemember for tax purposes under federal law.
