Texas veterans awarded 100 percent disability compensation by the VA, or rated individually unemployable, pay zero property taxes on their primary residence. The exemption transfers to an unmarried surviving spouse.
Restrictions
Applies to residence homestead only (not all properties). Apply using Form 50-114 at the local appraisal district. Deadline is April 30; late applications accepted up to 5 years after the delinquency date. Surviving spouse retains exemption as long as they do not remarry.
